Costa Rica Mission Trip

The youth mission trip to Costa Rica was Saturday, March 9-16. 

Seven youth and four adults recently traveled to our Costa Rica Village, Las Juntas. The experience was phenomenal! We had the opportunity to build relationships with the people of Las Juntas in so many ways. We were scheduled to teach VBS in the Elementary school, but fierce winds blew in a week before we landed in Costa Rica and the damage was intense. What we ended up doing instead of teaching VBS, was painting the bathrooms to prepare them for the students. This required more physical labor, but it did not stop us from spending time with the children. Our youth spent time playing with the elementary students in between all the painting. We spent one Sunday afternoon doing crafts with the children at the park. Our experiences created a bond between the church of Las Juntas and the community.

We had time to go to Monte Verde, Costa Rica, and zipline through the canopies. What an adventure!

Before we left for home, we stopped at the Methodist Orphanage in San Jose, Costa Rica and spent 5-6 hours helping build a second home. We dug holes for columns and poured concrete the whole time.

Hello from Costa Rica! We are having a really good trip and the youth are working very hard. We have spent the last two days painting at the public elementary school. The school endured many damages due to the high winds that occurred last week. We've also had time for recreation and learning about the culture. We've enjoyed hanging out with Pastor Roberto, his family and the community of Las Juntas. Last night we played fútbol with some of the church members. It was really fun interacting with the body of Christ. Thank you so much for your prayers and support. You are a big part of the mission here. Be sure and check out all of our pictures so far!
