Update 1 Mar 2017
Demolition is just about complete and the room is completely bare. Once plans are finalized and permits from the city are confirmed, further work will begin. Until then, you will see a bit of a lull in activity... but know that good things are coming soon!
Update 16 Feb 2017
Work is underway! You will notice work being done during the week. Please note that some of the parking spaces in front of Founders Chapel will be unavailable for the duration of the work in order for the dumpsters to be placed on site. The handicap accessible spaces will not be affected, however some of the spaces marked "Seasoned Citizens" will be moved from the parking lot proper to the parking along Church Street.
Parents, please note that the Check-In computers have been removed for this week. Please check in at the table outside Roundtable Room (at the top of the stairs that lead to the downstairs classrooms). For this week, we'll need to handwrite nametags. More details...
Please feel free to contact the church office (817-481-2559) should you have questions.
If you missed the January 2017 Town Hall gatherings, you may be interested in viewing the slide show that displays renderings of the Founders Chapel Refresh. We will soon start seeing changes being made to our Founders Chapel. We include here some renderings of how the Chapel and Atrium will be refreshed over the next few months, including lighting, sound, chancel area, painting of the brick, and wall treatments. What will not change is what we are calling “the essence” of the Chapel – that mid-century contemporary styling from when it was built in 1966. We keep the brick around the side walls and finish the front wall with a special treatment that allows us to project onto the walls without using screens.
We have begun disassembly of the pews for transport/storage, and we will soon see other workers removing the old HVAC side plenums and working on separating the Chapel from our boiler/chiller system. This is an exciting time when we finally begin the refresh we have been discussing.
If you have any questions on the Chapel and Atrium refresh, please contact Ralph Pettingell, Trustee Chairman (
