Galatians 5:1

“For freedom Christ has set us free…”

This is an interesting phrase.  For Paul, freedom means being free from the Law.  You can see that in the remaining words of the 5th chapter.  I think for our emphasis it is best to understand freedom as what allows us to be the people God created us to be and thus, be an authentic creation of God.  It is in that authenticity we find true joy and purpose.  In Galatians 5:23 to the end of the chapter, Paul writes about the things that promote freedom in our lives and the things that work against it. How can you work toward greater freedom in your life?

Romans 6:5-11

“So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.”

God has freed us from sin, but often we don’t believe in his love enough to forgive ourselves. What is it that you have asked the Lord to forgive in you, but have not let go of yourself? This would be a good time to trust the Lord enough to forgive yourself.
