Grief Support

Home » Ministries » Caring & Compassion » Grief Support If you have lost a spouse, child, family member or friend, you've probably found that there are not many people who understand the deep hurt you feel. This can be a confusing time when you feel isolated and have many questions about things you've never faced before. First Methodist Grapevine periodically offers groups like GriefShare or Good Grief to help you through these difficult times.

Good Grief Support Group

Of all the human experiences, one of the most devastating is the death of someone we love. Although grieving is an innate process, each of us goes through the pain of loss in our own way. The Good Grief Support Group, based on the booklet Good Grief by Granger E. Westberg, is a six-week journey in grief work that will include examination of patterns of grief, remembering with less pain and strengthening the ability to cope. The group is interactive with reflective assignments between meetings. Topics addressed include: telling our stories, understanding the grief process, tasks of grieving, individual factors of grieving, how children grieve, sudden death, stress management, holidays and anniversaries. The group is facilitated by a licensed professional counselor intern.
