Upcoming Studies

Summer Beth Moore Study
Ladies, we will be doing Anointed, Transformed, Redeemed: A Study of David for our summer study. The study features video presentations with Beth Moore, Priscilla Shirer, and Kay Arthur. These three women explored their lives and the life of David in this six-session Bible study. The messages are divided into three segments, two lessons from each author. Each segment focuses on the life of David at a different stage of his life. You’ll laugh, cry, and learn to love God! The study begins Wednesday, July 7, and meets through August 11. Choose morning (9:30-11:30 AM) or evening session 6:00-8:00 PM). Childcare available for the morning session. Purchase the member guide at Lifeway Christian Store.

Evening Precepts Bible Study Interest
We are considering an evening Precepts Bible Study class and looking to see who might be interested. The Precepts Inductive Bible Study method studies the text of scripture first and refers to the work of others second. It takes you directly to the Bible as your primary source using a straightforward investigative approach. Individual time is spent observing Scripture to know what the Bible says, using principles of interpretation to understand what it means, culminating in personal application. Weekly homework is included in this study. It's a very rewarding experience! Contact Nancy Johnson at pajnaj@verizon.net or 817-424-0297 for more information or to indicate your interest in this class. Day, time and location will be determined based on the needs of those who express an interest.

DiscipleShort-Term Disciple Studies - 8-11 weeks

Invitation To Romans
Compare what Paul writes in Romans to what theologians like Augustine, Luther and Calvin say in trying to understand Paul in their time. This study is meaty and extremely enjoyable for those students with some familiarity of Romans and with a strong biblical foundation to rely on.

Invitation To The New Testament
Explore the writings of the New Testament using the story of Jesus as the starting point. Look at how the early church developed.

Invitation To the Old Testament
Explore the Old Testament’s story of God and God's calling of the people of Israel through the many "voices" of the biblical text.

Invitation to Psalms
Make a deeper connection to the world of the Psalms so that these well known scriptures can help you give voice to all aspects of our human experience---joy, faith, uncertainty and sorrow. The study is accessible for adults with little prior Bible experience.

Invitation To John
Experience magnificent passages in John including the I am statements. Revisit stories only told in John's gospel including Nicodemus, Mary Magdalene and the raising of Lazarus. Participants for this Invitation to John do not have to have an in-depth knowledge of the Bible to enjoy and benefit from participation.

Long-Term Disciple Studies - 32-34 weeks

Disciple Bible Study I: Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study
Disciple I is a study that moves through the biblical story from Creation to the New Jerusalem. Features small-group discussion of Scripture based on careful study and preparation. These groups are aimed at transformation, not just information. Homework required. NOTE: Disciple I is a prerequisite to all other Disciple studies.

Disciple II: Into the Word Into the World
Move deeper into the word with this study of Genesis, Exodus, Luke, and Acts. Study themes of pride, hospitality, patience, and humility as we consider how we are called into ministry in the world around us.  Homework required.

Disciple III: Remember Who You Are
This study of the Prophets and Paul’s Letters identifies God’s people as a community of memory. It sets the Prophets and Paul’s writings in historical and geographical context. Participants will learn to understand Bible study as a call to repentance – to turn their life toward God and echoes the demand of the prophets and Paul to put God first and be a community of obedience. Homework required.

Disciple IV: Under the Tree of Life
This study of the Writings (Old Testament books not in the Torah or the Prophets); the Gospel of John; 1, 2, 3 John; James; Jude; and Revelation. Emphasis on praying the Psalms and on living toward the promise pictured in Revelation highlight this study. Homework required.

Jesus in the Gospels
Jesus in the Gospels is a study that invites believers to look at Jesus in each of the four Gospels and ask the question "who is the Jesus that you see?" This study fixes participants firmly in the witness of the four Gospels and holds them accountable to the Jesus who emerges from that witness. Homework required.
