Support Groups

Support"Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble." ~ Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (New Living Translation)

Depression Connection: Gain Understanding, Help and Hope
When suffering from depression/ bipolar or a related disorder, learn what helps and what hurts. Our Depression Connection support group will begin meeting Tuesday, May 18, in Room 4 at the Heritage Campus, 7:00-8:30 PM. The group is structured to include approximately ten individuals and a licensed, trained facilitator. In addition to an opportunity to communicate about one’s individual concerns, an educational component is included in each meeting. Research confirms that people who participate in regular support groups often experience a better quality of life and a greater likelihood of recovery from the symptoms of depression, anxiety disorder and bipolar disorder. Grief Support
If you have lost a spouse, child, family member or friend, you've probably found that there are not many people who understand the deep hurt you feel. This can be a confusing time when you feel isolated and have many questions about things you've never faced before. First Methodist Grapevine periodically offers groups like GriefShare or Good Grief to help you through these difficult times. Click here for more information...

Heart’s Desire Infertility Support Group
Heart’s Desire is a support and encouragement group for individuals or couples struggling with fertility challenges. Infertility affects 11% of couples of reproductive age, which is over 10 million couples in the United States. Yet when it happens to you, you feel like you are completely alone--all your friends seem to be having children, you feel like no one understands the pain and loss that you are going through, and simply sitting in church seeing all the happy families can be almost unbearable. Since it is such a personal and sensitive topic, no one talks about it, and you don’t realize that people all around you may have experienced the same devastating feelings. Heart’s Desire is a safe place to share those feelings if you choose, listen to the testimony of others, ask questions, and form relationships with people who can pray for you and support you during this difficult time. For more information contact: Kristen Cramer at kristencramer@aol.com.

Reaffirmation Support Group
This group is designed to meet the specific needs of parents, families and friends of gays and lesbians. This new ministry has been created by church members who have experienced first-hand the emotions involved with learning your child is gay. The purpose of the group is to help group members accept and love their children as they are, while at the same time dealing with their own emotions. The support comes through sharing experiences and listening to others share their stories. If you have questions or would like more information please call the church at 817-481-2559 x299 to leave a confidential message.
