Support Groups

Support"Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble." ~ Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (New Living Translation)

Career Transition Network
Job loss or a desire to change careers happens to most of us. In this time of economic uncertainty, if you find yourself unemployed, downsized, or just seeking change, the FUMC Career Transition Ministry is here to support you. We give you the tools to write an effective résumé, help you market yourself, network, interview and even explore the world of freelancing. Career Transition Ministry volunteers are experienced in career counseling, human resources, communication, marketing, and going out on your own. For more information, you may confidentially contact Jill Waterbury at jtwaterbury@yahoo.com or at 469-549-0061.

Families Anonymous
Families Anonymous is a group of concerned relatives and friends who have faced up to the reality that the problems of someone close to them is adversely affecting the lives of others. Anyone whose life has been adversely affected by another person's use of drugs, alcohol, or other behavioral problems is welcome. Meets Thursdays, 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in Heritage House. Contacts: Cathy and Craig Morris, 817-498-4901.

Reaffirmation Support Group
This group is designed to meet the specific needs of parents, families and friends of gays and lesbians. This new ministry has been created by church members who have experienced first-hand the emotions involved with learning your child is gay. The purpose of the group is to help group members accept and love their children as they are, while at the same time dealing with their own emotions. The support comes through sharing experiences and listening to others share their stories. This group meets the second Monday of every month, 7:00 to 8:30 PM in Heritage House. If you have questions or would like more information please call the church at 817-481-2559 x299 to leave a confidential message.

Real Purpose Support Group
If you or someone you know suffers from alcohol or drug addiction, please join the Real Purpose *All Addicts Anonymous group each Friday in the Heritage House at 7:30 PM. In the *AAA program, everyone is welcome regardless of drug choice, obsession, or compulsion. Family members are welcome as well. The purpose of our meetings is to connect suffering addicts to recovered addicts who guide newcomers through a one-on-one study of the original, undiluted Twelve Step program outlined in the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous. For more information please contact Hal at 817-734-6673 or hal.rutledge@verizon.net

*AAA is an internationally recognized addiction recovery program.
