Boy Scout Sunday - Celebrating 100 Years of Scouting!

Boy Scout Troop 700 and Cub Scout Pack 817 will celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America as part of the Scout Sunday activities this Sunday, February 14. FUMC Grapevine has chartered Troop 700 since 1977 and Pack 817 since 2005. We are also excited about a new Spanish-speaking Cub Scout troop that will be chartered by our church soon!

On Scout Sunday, Scouts will be recognized and will be participating in all of the services. The primary recognition will occur during the 11:15 AM worship service. A reception in the foyer of the Sanctuary (Downtown Campus) will be hosted by the Scouts following the last service. All Scouts and Scouters in the area are invited to attend in uniform. Questions? Boy Scouts, contact Robert Williams (817-488-5524), Bill Deters (817-798-9656) or Trent Tidmore (817-675-1856). Cub Scouts, contact Dawn Treese (817-251-1155).

Fill The Hole!

Don't just give up something this Lenten season... take something on! Starting Ash Wednesday and throughout the season of Lent, there will be opportunities for you to "fill the hole" we've been talking about in The Hole in Our Gospel. Look for the displays in the Sanctuary foyers and Founders Chapel atrium. Each tag displayed will list a way in which you can make a difference in the lives of those who are needy - both in our community and around the world. Take a tag... or two... or five... and make it your Lenten project!

"What's Next?" Gathering - Sunday, February 21
As you read The Hole in Our Gospel, are you wondering "What's Next"? What do I do with this information? Where do we start? Start thinking about it! On Sunday, February 21, we will gather at 3:00 PM in Leach Hall to brainstorm ideas about what to do to follow through with The Hole in Our Gospel

Want to "Fill the Hole" on an established ministry team?
We are in need of Angel Wings volunteers to dive people to appointments. See Check-In to sign up for one of these opportunities and more!

  • February 28: Tuesday – Matthew 21:18-25

  • March 7: Wednesday – Matthew 26:3-16

News to Change the World

Scouting for Food
Boy Scout Troop 700 and Cub Scout Pack 817 are participating in the annual Scouting for Food Campaign. Troop 700 will be delivering bags in the central Grapevine area on Saturday, February 13, and picking up food on Sunday, February 14. If you would care to contribute, you may bring your food items with you to worship on Scout Sunday, February 14.  The food will be collected by the Troop, combined with the God Can collection, and delivered to GRACE.  Pack 817 will be conducting their food collection in the area surrounding Grapevine Elementary School. Their collections will also be delivered to GRACE.

Save the Date for An Hour to Help Haiti
An Hour to Help Haiti will take place on Saturday, February 27, at 11:00 AM. Please join us for an hour of walking, running, riding and praying for the people of Haiti in this unique way to raise funds that will be sent directly to Haiti via UMCOR, the United Methodist Committee On Relief. Additional details will follow in next week’s E-news.

Never Go Hungry Casseroles
Never Go Hungry Casseroles is a new opportunity for our church family to reach out to the needy in our community who come to our church seeking assistance. We provide a one-dish meal (such as a casserole, soup, stew, entree salad or some other main dish item) to feed a minimum of four people. The food items should be fully-cooked, prepared in a non-returnable container labeled "Never Go Hungry Casseroles" and brought to church. The casserole should be placed in the freezer or the refrigerator in a specially designated area for Never Go Hungry Casseroles. If you are interested in being a part of this vital ministry, please contact Teresa Agler at teresaagler@gmail.com or by phone at 817-481-6008.

God Can for GRACE
We collected 180 items for God Can last week and 151 items this week.
Bring your non-perishable food items for the GRACE pantry to the designated bins in the Sanctuary Foyer, Founders Chapel Atrium and outside the church office. GRACE's needs right now are: Cooking oil, canned meats, dry rice, pasta, toiletries. Click here for a full list of GRACE Pantry's current needs (PDF).

Weekend Food Needs
Weekend Food needs are individual packs of: easy mac, ravioli, ramen noodles, applesauce, fruit cups, pudding cups, breakfast bars, instant oatmeal. Please bring your donations to Room 1006 in the Family Life Center. We will be taking another collection of health kits soon.
