WOW - Worship On Wednesdays

WOW is a fun, energizing mid-week recharge! One worshipper says, "I've enjoyed the different musicians on Wednesday nights and getting to hear all our different pastors preach on the 10 commandments. I think WOW is a refreshing mid-week chance to connect with God." Join us throughout the summer for Worship on Wednesdays at 6:30 PM in the Sanctuary at the Heritage Campus. There is a different speaker each week and music is provided by a variety of people. The sermon series is on the Ten Commandments. Childcare is provided.

Communion Offering: Benevolence Fund

This Sunday, August 1, is Communion Sunday! This month's communion offering will go to replenish the tapped-out Benevolence Fund. We have helped families with rent, utilities and other life necessities 66 times since our last request for Benevolence Funds through the May communion offering. The need is great and on-going. Please bring your offerings with you to the altar during communion this Sunday. Write "Benevolence" in the memo of your check.

News to Change the World

Top Needs This Week

Benevolence Funds. We are running very low on funds to help those who come into the office needing assistance with rent, utilities, etc. We will be designating this Sunday's Communion Offering to the Benevolence Fund, but also appreciate your gifts to this fund at any time.

Money for ceiling fans. The Grapevine Housing Authority has suggested that a great way to help our neighbors reduce their electric bills is by providing ceiling fans. There are 98 apartments within the Authority. Your $35 contribution will purchase a 52-inch fan. The storage and installation of these fans will be done through the City of Grapevine. Please indicate "ceiling fan" on your payment. Questions? Contact Bev Campisi at beverlyc@fumcg.org.

See needs for GRACE below.

RUNNING BACK to School!
The first day of school is Monday, August 23. We have learned from the school district and GRACE that shoes, socks and backpacks are items which low income Grapevine-Colleyville students especially need. We will collect new running shoes, socks and backpacks for students throughout August. You may donate new girls’ and boys’ tennis shoes (kid sizes 8-13 and older kid/adult sizes 1-13) and all types of new backpacks. Drop off your donations in the designated areas in the sanctuary foyer, chapel atrium, or outside the church office. If you prefer to donate money and let our team do the shopping, make your checks payable to the church with "Back to School" on the subject line. Questions? Contact Donna Price at 817-903-7288 or email adkins96@yahoo.com.

GRACE Transitional Housing Needs
We are partnering with GRACE's Transitional Housing program as several apartments are being readied for single women to move into this summer and fall. We could still use the following items: TV, DVD player, cash donations to purchase household items, making checks payable to GRACE Transitional Housing. If you have questions, please contact Bev Campisi at beverlyc@fumcg.org. You may read more about GRACE Transitional Housing at www.gracegrapevine.org.

God Can for GRACE
Bring your non-perishable food items for the GRACE pantry to the designated bins in the Sanctuary Foyer, Founders Chapel Atrium and outside the church office. Other current needs include: Salt and Pepper (individual table size), Pasta, Sugar, Cooking Oil, Kids Cereal, Canned Peaches, Pancake Mix, Ramen Noodles, Oatmeal, Tomato SAUCE, Tomato Paste, Canned Meats, Dry Pinto Beans (2 lb. Bags), Mustard, Ketchup and Mayo.

Mission Green Tip of the Week: Recycle E-Waste
Each day, tens of thousands of CDs are being tossed into the trash can and end up in landfills. This has been going on for over 20 years. But now you can recycle those CDs, jewel cases and other electronic waste! Help make a difference by sending your unwanted CDs and other unwanted E-waste to Polysource International to be properly recycled for no charge except your cost to ship. Visit their website for a full list of items that they will recycle or just start shipping those old CDs to: Polysource International Inc., 13505 Yorba Ave., Unit R, Chino, California 91710. Shipping with media rates will help you save on postage. More info at: www.cdrecyclingcentral.com

All kids going into fourth through sixth grade are invited to join us for a Kids Handbell Camp. Ultimately we would like to be playing in worship services. Put it on your calendar and join us on August 4-6, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Middle School Mission Sweeps into Menard!
The southwest Texas town of Menard was host to 25 youth and 14 adults from FUMC Grapevine last week. Worksite Coordinators, Paul Hudson and Mark Shumaker, led the way using a keen eye for ministry to choose homes that needed repair. Work teams repaired windows, bathroom floors, leaky roofs, painted houses, and hung acres of sheetrock in homes of disadvantaged persons. FUMC Menard lent their Sanctuary for great evening worship sessions and arranged for a kayaking event on the San Saba river for one evening recreation time. Best of all, neither searing heat nor cold showers could keep our mission group from completing their difficult but extremely gratifying tasks. Can't wait till next year! Click here to see more photos.
