What is “Rekindle
Your Faith”?
“Rekindle Your Faith” is a campaign designed to address the current and long term financial needs of
our church and to reach out beyond our walls in mission work. The funds from this campaign will
help pay down the principal on our mortgage loan with Texas Methodist Foundation. In addition, a tithe (10%) of all contributions in this campaign will be used in new mission projects sponsored by First United Methodist Church.
Mission to Kenya
We are excited about the mission
work that will be done through Rekindle Your Faith! One of the
ministries that will benefit from your contributions is Africa Inland Mission at Rift Valley Academy in Kijabe, Kenya.
With the funds we will provide, a computer lab will be built to
provide vital learning experience for the children in Kijabe.
The picture you see here is an example of how the lab will
look. Children will have the opportunity to learn computer
skills that will help them to get better jobs in the future and get
out of poverty!
Go online to peifer.kijabe.org
to read all about the Rift Valley Academy and the ministry that is
done there by Steve and Nancy Peifer and their four children.
Questions
& Answers
Thanks to all of you who came to the Information Meetings and asked
questions! If you didn't make it to an Information Meeting and
have not picked up or downloaded your information, it is still
available to you on the website or at the
table in the foyer on Sunday mornings.
Here are a few questions and
answers that came up at the Information Meetings:
What is the goal? We
know from the numbers that we need somewhere between $1.7 million
and $2.2 million to have the kind of impact we want on the finances
of the church.
How much was pledged and collected in the Build the Vision campaign?
3.6 million pledged and 2.8 million collected
How much was pledged and collected in the Bright Vision (2nd campaign)? 1.4 million pledged and 1 million collected
When do we do the devotionals
that were provided at the Information Meetings? You may do the ten-day devotional at
any time. It is designed to help you reflect on your own
personal decision about giving to Rekindle Your Faith.

Poster Festival
Hey,
kids! We need your help to welcome 2006 and Rekindle Your Faith.
Help us decorate the church with your
original posters! The theme of the poster festival is Rekindle Your
Faith. Here are some suggestions of things you can do for your
poster…
- Show how you can make a
difference in people’s lives—either in our church or out in
the world
- Show what you think our church
will be like in the future
- Illustrate a parable from the
Bible
- Illustrate something from the
Old or New Testament
- Draw anything that is special to
you!
All KidsTown Sunday School
students, age four through 5th grade, are invited to participate.
Your poster will be displayed in the church and you may even win a
prize!
Make your poster at home on poster
board (size should be standard-sized piece of poster board cut in
half) and bring it with you to the atrium of Founders Chapel on
Sunday, January 29. Be sure you put your name and Sunday School
class on the back of the poster.
