Rekindle Your Faith - Under the Big Tent!

We’re celebrating our commitments to Rekindle Your Faith by raising a big tent in the west parking lot and making a weekend of it! Block off the weekend of February 24-26… you won’t want to miss a minute of it! Here’s the line-up…

Family Night with Dan Wetzel
Friday, February 24, at 7:00 p.m.
Basketball Entertainer Dan Wetzel will be in the Big Tent with a great program for kids and families!

With his eye-popping abilities to handle a basketball, Dan will inspire you and your kids to become Champions for God!  Dan travels the country challenging young and old alike to become Champions in Life by making the greatest choice one can make and accepting the greatest gift of all - Christ!  Read more about Dan Wetzel and see him in action on his website: www.danwetzel.com

Nursery care is provided for children who may be too young to enjoy the program.  We're inviting the community, so make sure you invite your friends and neighbors!

Big Tent Revival
Saturday, February 25, at 6:00 p.m.
Evangelist Mark Winter will fan the flames of our faith at our revival and sing along, followed by a pot luck dessert in the Family Life Center!
Some of your favorite First Church singing groups will also be performing! This event is for ALL AGES!

Rev. Mark Winter, a United Methodist pastor and evangelist (and former First Church youth pastor), believes that the church has the most exciting news in the world to share – the Gospel of Jesus Christ. To communicate that news in a relevant, exciting way, he becomes various characters who relate their encounters with God. “God’s Cavalryman” is Mark’s tribute to the circuit-riding preachers of the old frontier. Winter’s circuit rider, a fictitious Methodist parson named Obadiah Ryder IV, is based on historical sources, including the journals of several old-time preachers.  “God’s Cavalryman” is chock-full of good-natured humor, thrilling stories and audience interaction.  Read more about Mark on his website: www.onemanshow.org.

Be sure to bring your favorite dessert to share at the Pot Luck Dessert following the revival meeting in the Family Life Center!

The Big Event
Sunday, February 26
This is the day we'll make our commitments to Rekindle Your Faith!  We've already received many commitments, but if you haven't already submitted yours you can bring it to worship with you on February 26!  To celebrate this BIG EVENT, we'll have...

10:30 a.m. One worship service in the Sanctuary.  We will gather with the entire church together in one service!  There will be no Sunday School this Sunday.

11:40 a.m. Lunch catered by Carrabba’s in the Big Tent for YOUTH and ADULTS. We'll enjoy lunch together under the big tent after worship!  Since we're having it catered, we'll need you to RSVP HERE.

11:40 a.m. Camp Faith for KIDS (age 3 to 5th Grade) in the Family Life Center. The kids will have hot dogs and chips for lunch, cool "camping" activities and much more!! RSVP HERE.  Kids younger that 3 will go to the nursery (parents should provide lunch for them).

5:00 p.m. Youth Rally & Concert.  Student Ministries welcomes Ashmore in concert!  This group of guys are friends of Josh Ingram and minister in various ways throughout the metroplex.  We'll have other special guests… and FOOD, of course!

Our hospitality team will be contacting you for your RSVP for the lunch and Camp Faith.  If you would like to save the phone call, you can RSVP HERE or on the Check-In in your bulletin on Sunday morning.  We can't wait to see you there!!

GRACE Mission

We are excited about the mission work that will be done through Rekindle Your Faith!  In addition to the Africa Inland Mission we told you about in the last newsletter, we'll also be sponsoring the waiting room at GRACE's new Food Pantry and Health Clinic!  GRACE has been working to expand their facilities and open a health clinic for their clients.  Through the money we raise with Rekindle Your Faith, we will be able to help GRACE by sponsoring the renovation of the room that will serve as the waiting room in their new facility.  Pictured at right in the unfinished waiting room are GRACE Executive Director Tricia Wood and their Capital Campaign Chair Dan Green.

For those of you who are not familiar with it, the Grapevine Relief And Community Exchange (GRACE) is a locally-based non-profit relief agency which provides food, clothing, financial assistance, and other vital necessities to people who are struggling with a limited income or recent emergency. The philosophy of GRACE is that encouraging self-sufficiency will in turn encourage community cohesiveness. Compassion and assistance are offered as a response to God's grace.

Questions & Answers

Thanks to all of you who came to the Information Meetings and asked questions!  If you didn't make it to an Information Meeting and have not picked up or downloaded your information, it is still available to you on the website or at the table in the foyer on Sunday mornings.

Question:  What was the total cost of the sanctuary?  How were the funds spent from the two previous capital campaigns?

Answer: The following schedule consolidates and attempts to organize the information that we have shared either verbally or in writing over the past few months.  The existing debt, in part, was created to purchase land that would enable us to build the Scribner parking lot, the sanctuary in its current location and facilitate closing Franklin Street between Church and Scribner.  Click here to print this information in a Word document or a PDF.

Youth Won't Spend a Penny

The youth announced on Sunday that they have vowed to "not spend a penny" for the three years of the Rekindle Your Faith campaign.  Their goal is to raise $30,000!  You can help by tossing your spare change into the "X-spencer-ator" outside The Hub.  Feel free to drop in more than just pennies... nickels, dimes, quarters are welcome too!  Want to know more about Student Ministries?  Visit their website at www.revolutionXonline.com

Rekindle Your Faith Coin Contest

Hey kids! "Rekindle Your Faith" is the Capital Campaign for our church, and you are asking, "What can I do?" Well, here's your chance... we are going to have a contest for 3-year-olds through 5th graders to see who can raise the most money in coins by March 5! This Sunday, February 12, we will decorate wrappers to go around 2-liter bottles (please bring your own bottle from your house). Then you'll keep your coins in there each week, and bring it to church with you every Sunday until March 5. Bring in your coins each week, and combine them with the rest of your class, and let's see who can raise the most money!! The winning class will get prizes and donuts!! So ask your parents what you can do to earn some coins, then bring them to church each Sunday. On March 5, we will have a winner!!! The Prize will be awarded to the winning class on March 19. Start earning those coins now!!!
