We have several on-going projects to minister to the people of Kenya. These include partnerships to sponsor AIDS orphans, build water wells, feed kids at school, build solar-powered computer labs, support Methodist churches and hospitals, and send missionaries out to share God's love with the people of Kenya.

AIDS Orphans Sponsorships
In partnering with Bishop William in Kenya, we have been made aware of the needs of children orphaned by AIDS. We have already found sponsors for 170 children! Sponsored orphans are provided with food, clothing, the ability to attend school and get medical assistance. The cost to sponsor is only $20/month.
Sponsors in Waiting
We are extending our AIDS Orphans Ministry to "Sponsors In Waiting." We will now have a list of "wanna-be" sponsors and we will go to MCK asking for children! We will be ASKING for the children - no longer asking for sponsors! The financial commitment for sponsoring a child is $20 per month for 3 years (which is equal to $240 per year or $720 total). If you are interested in becoming a sponsor, contact Donna Chabot at 940-262-0366 or chabot113@juno.com.
Lunch with Florence Murugu
Mark your calendar for Sunday, April 25! Florence Murugu, the social worker who works with our AIDS Orphans in Kenya, will be here that Sunday. We will share together in a Pot Luck lunch that Sunday after the 11:15 AM worship service. Meat and desserts will be provided. We ask that you bring a side dish to share. Florence will speak about Meru, Kenya projects and the AIDS Orphans. Volunteers are needed to help set up and clean up. If you would like to help, sign up on Check-In online or in Sunday's bulletin. Questions? Contact Donna Chabot at chabot113@juno.com.
We recently received an article written about Florence, the director of the AIDS program in Kenya. Click here to read it! (pdf).
We also received word about a new group of people trained to work with the AIDS orphans. Please be in prayer for this group of "missionaries" working on behalf of these children.
2009 Kenya Mission Trip
The Kenyan Mission Team had a great two weeks! As you may see and hear on Sunday mornings, the team came back with many stories to tell and items to sell to benefit the AIDS orphans we sponsor. We raised over $2,700 for Kenyan Projects on Sunday, July 5, both from selling Kenyan jewelry and art pieces and from the Communion Offering.

Kenyan Missionary Project Update
The response to help fund Kenyan missionaries has been tremendous. With the money collected, Bishop William Muiriki has many missionaries serving. Here are the Missionaries who are now in place, in large part because of your generosity:
Peifers - Feed the Kids in Kenya
Throughout 2007 we have made a special effort to help Steve Peifer's ministry to feed the school children in Kenya. Typically, it costs $1.50 to feed a child for a month. This term, it will cost us $6.00 per child each month. That is a 400% increase in a very short time. Kenya is experiencing intense inflation while the U.S. dollar is also declining in value. We need your help to make up the difference!
You can give to Feed the Kids Kenya any time by indicating "Feed the Kids Kenya" in the memo portion of your check (please be sure to include "Kenya" so as not to be confused with local feed the kids programs). More info: CNN Video about Steve | Steve Peifer's Website
K enyan Guest House
A family in our church has generously given $30,000 to build the Lanyiru Church in Kenya. We will be adding to these funds to build a guest house in Bishop William's Synod. The guest house is used to generate income to make the church more self-sufficient.
Kenyan Bishop
Bishop William Muriuki Mwongo of the Kaaga Synod of Kenya and his wife Catherine visited us in November-December 2007. Please pray that they will have continued success in their ministry and that they will be able to use all they have learned while in the U.S.
