Paul Cox joined OMS, International in 2001. Currently, Paul and Dawn are recruiting coordinators with OMS which gives them the privilege of recruiting and mobilizing believers whom God is calling up to serve overseas with OMS International. Paul is able to apply his 13 years of experience as a former executive recruiter as he and Dawn search for the next cross-cultural missionaries.

Life Story

Paul grew up in Haskell, Texas and became a believer when he was 9 nine years old.  He has been blessed with wonderful Christian parents and 4 amazing brothers and sisters.

He completed his undergraduate studies at Texas A&M and had plans to enter pharmacy school after graduation like his sister Emily did.  But the Lord used the sophomore level class Organic Chemistry to turn his life’s canoe in a different direction.  (Paul remains grateful to the Lord for that.)  Following his graduation Paul moved to Chicago to work for the headquarters of a college fraternity.  Later he moved into the world of executive recruiting.  new baby

In 1998 he left Chicago and moved to Fort Worth where he opened up his own recruiting firm.  Two years later, he enrolled at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and joined OMS International in 2001. Paul left the states later that year as a North American missionary to Spain.

Three months before his arrival in Spain, Paul met his future wife, Dawn.  A friend of Paul´s introduced the two and it was love at first sight.  On June 1, 2001, Paul knocked on the front door of Dawn´s home which she shared with her sister.  Little did he know that his life would be changed forever.  That was the day that he showed up to take a free Spanish class that Dawn was offering.

Both Paul and Dawn continue to be amazed at God´s faithfulness.  You see, God had called Dawn to Spain as a missionary in 1992.  So, in effect, God joined two hearts together with a call to same part of the world and to the same country.

Paul and his wife Dawn ministered as missionaries in Madrid, Spain for eight years during which time they served in the area of English evangelism and church planting. Towards the end of Paul and Dawn´s time in Spain, he served as ministry field coordinator which meant overseeing the efforts of 32 missionaries and 10 ministries in 5 cities spread throughout the country.

At age 5 Dawn accepted Christ into her heart. And in 1987, at the age of 17, God placed within Dawn His desire for her to serve as a foreign missionary. In 1992, as a college student, she traveled to Spain to study Spanish as a second language. Dawn was so moved by the immense need for God’s hope, she returned to the U.S. with a strong conviction to return to Spain someday. In fact, the 1992 trip would mark the first of five trips to Spain in a nine-year span. In 2001 her 14-year-old call to missions intersected with Paul’s when one day he showed up at her home for a free Spanish class for beginners just prior to his departure to Spain.

Dawn is a 1993 graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington with a bachelor’s degree in social work. In 1999, she obtained a master’s degree in Spanish from the University of North Texas.

At the present, Paul and Dawn reside in north Houston, and have two sons, Samuel, age 5, and Benjamin, age 3. Their daughter, Caroline Elizabeth, was born on May 27, 2009.

Vision for Recruiting

Our vision and burden is simple.  We desire to be a connecting point of communication, prayer support and encouragement for people whom God is calling to serve overseas.

Pray that God will continue to raise up co-laborers for the harvest fields around the world!

The chief end of all mission work is the Glory of God. For from the rising of the sun to its setting my name will be great among the nations…Malachi 1:11

OMS International—an evangelical faith mission formerly known as The Oriental Missionary Society--reaches the nations for Christ through evangelism, theological training, and church planting in Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe, and Africa, and then joins with those churches to reach the rest of the world.
