The Metropolitan Board of Missions is the mission arm of the Fort Worth and Mid-Cities Districts of the United Methodist Church. The board is made up of clergy and lay leaders from the churches in these two districts. Each year the board decides on “partner ministries”. The board helps fund these “partner ministries” through contributions from the churches represented by the board. Historically our church has collected the money that we give to the board from our Easter offering. We have always been able to meet our “Fair Share Askings”, and have received the Metro Mover Award many times for giving beyond what they have asked. The board has chosen 34 ministries to partner with this year. All of these ministries have a positive impact on our community. These ministries serve a diverse population: children who need tutoring, victims of domestic violence, incarcerated parents and their children, those without homes and those who are hungry. This is just another way that our church is sharing God’s love with our community. For more information about the Board of Missions, see their website, www.metroboard-umc.org.
