Be Our Guest ~ Neighborhood Meal

Be Our Guest neighborhood meal is the third Tuesday of each month at 6:00 PM in the Family Life Center of First Methodist Church in Grapevine - 422 Church Street. No RSVP is required.

Last spring, several of our church members wondered what might happen if we planned some meals for our neighbors who were really hungry. What would happen if we opened up our Family Life Center once a month and served a free, family style meal for individuals and families who needed a warm meal and just to know people cared about them.

Step by step, meeting by meeting, this ministry was born. On Tuesday, January 20, 2009, we launched the Be Our Guest neighborhood meal ministry.

The meal is offered on the third Tuesday of each month year-round. Our church members do not come to eat, but rather they cook, serve, host tables and wash dishes. Some of our church members provide homemade desserts each month for a very special sweet touch to the meal.

We serve a full meal each time, on real dishes not paper plates, on tables with tablecloths and centerpieces. We usually have enough food for everyone to have seconds…and the food is good enough that everyone will want to have seconds!

We are stepping out in faith because we will really never know how many guests might attend, how much food to serve or how exactly God will work through this ministry to change us and to reach others.
