Parking Lot Project
Our Church Conference voted on Monday, November 17, to partner with the City of Grapevine to build a parking lot on part of our Ball Street property. On Tuesday, December 16, the Grapevine City Council approved the project.
Here are the specifics:
- The Ball Street parking lot will have 129 spaces with landscaping, lighting and a two lane bridge as well as a pedestrian walkway connecting to our Scribner Street lot. A large portion of the Ball Street property will be retained for development of future church facilities.
- The church will invest $100,000 or approximately 50% of the material cost and the city will pay for the rest of the materials and provide all the labor.
- The church will retain ownership of the property and have primary use of the lot on Sundays and religious holidays. The city will lease the parking lot and provide for the maintenance and liability insurance as with the Willhoite lot.
- The church will install a sign on Ball Street at a cost to the church that will not exceed $31,000.
- The Scribner Street lot will be finished with curbs, gutters, lighting and landscaping at a cost to the church of $69,000. The city will provide the labor.
- The church and city have worked to be environmentally friendly in this project by using recycled materials and managing the lighting with timers.
- Construction of the parking lot could begin in early 2009 and be completed by Easter, weather permitting.
- The project will be financed by asking the congregation to give. Individuals may make a one- time gift or make a pledge to give by December 31, 2009. The church has a line of credit at Frost Bank that can be used. The $200,000 would cover the cost of the project and any interest that is accumulated.
This is a great opportunity to open our church property to Ball Street, continue our partnership with the City of Grapevine, provide increased visibility to the community and provide easier access for members and guests on Sunday mornings.
We believe this project will greatly benefit our church, and we need your help to pay for it. We need to raise $200,000 ($1,550 per parking space) during 2009. We have a line of credit available at Frost Bank, but would prefer not to use it and increase our debt. The $200,000 is our total share of the project. We ask that you prayerfully consider making a gift to make this project possible.
